Behind The Bikeshed’s Summer Series Announcement

btbsAdmin | 23/04/2015 10:21:45

Firstly we would like to thank all the riders who attended on Tuesday evening. We were a bit overwhelmed with the numbers looking to race and signing on was a bit slower than we would like. Despite this, the patience and good humour shown by everyone was really appreciated. Collectively we all owe a big thank to Tim, Sue and Mick from British Cycling, as with their help and support we managed to arrange places for a further 25 riders. Even then we still had to turn away some riders, something none of us wanted to happen.

Whilst it was brilliant to see such big fields in the men's races, it was a huge disappointment to us, given our commitment to women's cycling as a whole, to only see 6 women turn up to race. We had priority places reserved for women and all that wanted to race were able to but with only 6 in attendance, they had to race in with the large Cat/Cat4 men's field. If the women's race is not supported on a Tuesday evening it won't happen as demand is so high, the spaces will be allocated to the men's races if not used.

For the remainder of the series we are pleased to be able to report that our race capacity has been increased to 200 riders. We strongly recommend pre-entering via the BC website - this remains open until midnight on the Sunday before the race. We have allocated 45 places to the E/1/2/ race, 15 to the women's race, with the remaining 140 places for the Cat3/Cat4 race. We have some flexibility within this but there is a guaranteed on-line entry as long as we are within these numbers. We have also decided to open signing-on earlier at 5.15pm from now on in an attempt to make things easier. Once pre-entry has closed we will post details of the number of on the line entries available for that Tuesday's race.

Please could all interested parties circulate this message and lets hope for a well supported series of great racing.
